Where to Stay in Da Nang, Vietnam

One of the things I loved most about Da Nang was how easy it was to actually live there rather than just visit.

I ended up staying for a few weeks, mostly around My Khe Beach, and having my own apartment made such a difference. I could unpack properly, have more space than a standard hotel room and settle into a bit of a routine – morning walks, cafes, gym, beach afternoons and everything I needed within easy reach.

If you’re wondering where to stay in Da Nang, I’d personally recommend being near the beach. Here’s a breakdown of the main areas, plus the two places I stayed myself.

My Khe Beach: My Pick for First-Time Visitors

If I were returning to Da Nang, I’d happily stay around My Khe Beach again.

You get the obvious benefit of being able to walk to the beach whenever you want, but you’re still close to cafes, restaurants, convenience stores and everything you need day-to-day. Grab is incredibly easy to use when you want to explore further, so I never felt like staying on the beach side made sightseeing difficult.

It was also the location that really gave me the lifestyle I loved in Da Nang. I could go for long walks along the beachfront, grab a coffee, spend an afternoon reading by the beach and easily head home whenever I wanted.

Where I Stayed: Sharon Hotel and Apartment

For most of my time in Da Nang, I stayed at Sharon Hotel and Apartment near My Khe Beach.

I loved having a serviced apartment rather than a traditional hotel room. It felt much more homely and gave me somewhere I was genuinely happy to come back to rather than somewhere that was simply a place to sleep.

The location worked really well for me too. I was close enough to walk to the beach easily, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, a 24hr shop next door and other conveniences nearby.

If you’re planning to spend more than a few nights in Da Nang, I’d definitely consider looking at apartments rather than limiting your search to hotels. Da Nang is the kind of destination where having a little extra space can make it very easy to settle in.

I Also Stayed Further North Along My Khe Beach

When I couldn’t extend my stay at Sharon Hotel and Apartment, I moved slightly further up the coast into an Airbnb even closer to the beach.

I somehow ended up with a huge apartment clearly designed for an entire family, which felt slightly ridiculous when it was just me rattling around in there 😂. But it confirmed that I really liked this part of Da Nang too – I was even closer to the beach while still having cafes, restaurants and everything I needed nearby.

For families or groups, I’d definitely look at larger apartments around My Khe Beach. There’s a huge range of apartment-style accommodation in Da Nang, and you can often get considerably more space than you would in a standard hotel room.

Other Hotels Near My Khe Beach

If Sharon Hotel and Apartment isn’t available, there are plenty of other highly rated options around My Khe Beach. These aren’t hotels I stayed at personally, but I’d consider these depending on your budget:

💰 Budget: BlueSun Hotel – A great-value option right by My Khe Beach. It’s especially handy if you want the beachfront location without spending much on accommodation; current listings also rate it strongly for its location.

✨ Mid-range: Sala Danang Beach Hotel – Just a few minutes’ walk from My Khe Beach, with an outdoor pool and fitness centre. This would be my pick if you want something a little nicer while still getting really good value.

🥂 Luxury: M Hotel Danang – A stunning property that’s perfect for a ‘treat yourself’ kind of stay. Beachfront access, sea views, rooftop swimming pool and spa. This would be the first location I’d choose if I wanted a more luxurious stay in Da Nang!

An Thuong & My An: Best for Cafes, Restaurants and Longer Stays

Just south of My Khe, the An Thuong and My An area is particularly popular with foreigners, digital nomads and people staying in Da Nang for longer periods.

There are cafes everywhere, along with restaurants serving both Vietnamese and international food, gyms, coworking-friendly spaces and plenty of apartments geared towards longer stays.

I had slightly conflicting feelings about this side of Da Nang. On one hand, the convenience is a huge part of what makes the city so liveable, particularly when you’re staying for a few weeks or months. On the other, it can be incredibly easy to settle into a bubble where your apartment, cafes, restaurants and social circle are all centred around other foreigners.

I think it’s worth being conscious of how you experience a city when you’re staying longer. Explore beyond the businesses aimed primarily at foreigners, eat at local restaurants, shop locally and make an effort to engage with and support the community you’re temporarily living in.

If your priority is having everything within walking distance and an easy place to settle into, An Thuong and My An make a lot of sense. If you want to experience a different side of Da Nang, make sure you venture beyond this pocket of the city too.

Han River & Da Nang City Centre: Best for a More Urban Stay

You don’t have to stay by the beach.

Across the river, central Da Nang feels much more like the busy Vietnamese city that Da Nang actually is. You’ll have easy access to shops, markets, restaurants and everyday city life while still only being a short Grab ride from the beach.

I didn’t spend nearly as much time staying or exploring on this side, so I can’t give the same personal accommodation recommendations here. But if beaches aren’t your main priority, or you prefer being surrounded by city life, it’s worth considering.

You’ll also be closer to sights like the Dragon Bridge, Han Market and the riverfront.

Where to stay in Da Nang City Centre

💰 Budget: Sujet Center Hotel by Haviland – An affordable, central option close to Indochina Riverside Mall and 3km from the airport.

✨ Mid-range: Vanda Hotel – A highly rated option right near the Dragon Bridge and Han River, with a pool, spa and city/river views.

🥂 Luxury: Crowne Plaza Danang City Centre – A five-star option for anyone wanting more of a luxury city stay, with a pool and spa while still being right in central Da Nang.

Should You Stay in Da Nang or Hoi An?

If you’re trying to decide whether to base yourself in Da Nang or nearby Hoi An, my personal choice would be Da Nang.

I loved visiting Hoi An and absolutely think it’s worth seeing, but I found the Old Town incredibly busy and touristy. After spending the day there, I was genuinely happy to head back to the more relaxed atmosphere of Da Nang.

Staying in Da Nang gave me the beach, cafés and conveniences of a larger city while Hoi An was still close enough to visit as a day trip.

If you’ve dreamed about waking up in historic Hoi An and experiencing the Old Town early in the morning before the day-trippers arrive, staying there might be worthwhile. But for a longer stay, I personally preferred having Da Nang as my base.

Hotel or Apartment in Da Nang?

For a short trip, there’s nothing wrong with booking a hotel. But if you’re staying for a week or longer, I’d seriously consider an apartment.

Having more space was one of the reasons I enjoyed my stay so much. Da Nang is a very easy place to settle into a routine, and having an apartment complemented that perfectly.

Rather than feeling like I was constantly travelling and living out of a hotel room, I could actually unpack and make myself comfortable for a while.

So, Where Should You Stay in Da Nang?

For most first-time visitors, I’d choose somewhere around My Khe Beach.

You’ll have the beach on your doorstep, plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby and easy access to the rest of Da Nang by Grab. It gives you that relaxed coastal experience while still having all the conveniences of a major city.

For longer stays, I’d look particularly closely at serviced apartments around My Khe, My An and An Thuong. If you want more of a city atmosphere and don’t care about walking to the beach every day, consider staying closer to the Han River instead.

Personally, having an apartment near My Khe Beach was a huge part of why I enjoyed Da Nang as much as I did. It gave me exactly what I wanted from my time there: somewhere comfortable and homely where I could slow down for a few weeks, while still having the beach and the city right outside my door.
